8 Tips to Improve Your Facebook Marketing

How do you market your business? For most of our client's it is a mixture of both offline and online strategies. The main goal is to reach your target market with the aim of converting them into new and loyal customers.

Recently we worked with a client who had a facebook page but wasn't really getting what they wanted from it in terms of leads and enquiries. Material Needs is a lovely shop in Castlebar run my Marie O'Brien. Material Needs specialise in promotional and personalised gifts so their business is very visual - perfect for Facebook!

For those of you who don't know by now; in order to get your content seen even by the fans you do have you either have to PAY or have amazingly engaging (share, like, comment) content that will reach a wider targeted audience. 

Below are a number of tips we gave Mari, and now she get's enquiries every day!

#1 Plan For Success

To get somewhere you need a map, right? This is the first tip I give anyone using or about to use any online channel. It is the boring part but believe me it is essential.

#2 Why Insights Matter

If you don't know where your facebook insights are and what they mean - find them fast! This is where you can see the content that your fans actually like - it's important to keep a regular eye on these metrics so that you keep sharing your best content. 

#3 Images Tell YOUR Story

Insights showed us that Material Needs fans reacted to real images! Those that are not "borrowed" from Google (by the way this is copyright infringement!) Marie started sharing pictures of her happy customers with their gifts and soon people were "liking, sharing and commenting" and lead to new enquiries and orders about her products.

#4 Signage Reminds Your Customers

If you are on facebook - tell your customers. Include signage in your shop, ask customers to check-in or like your page. You would be surprised what people do when they are waiting. You could also incentivise your staff to ask customers to check-in. 

#5 Competitions Attract New Fans

Competitions are a great way to attract new fans. Make sure you follow the rules though - Like & Share competitions are against facebook terms of service plus they are spammy and all you get are empty likes. You can easily design your competition app on shortstack.com but remember it's not only about who you attract but whether they stay afterwards and the plan you have to keep them as a loyal fan. 

#6 Facebook Ads Increase Your Reach

Ads can be an inexpensive way to get your content seen by more people, get new likes or drive website traffic, but beware they can be expensive if not managed properly.  It's not all about quantity, you can use functions like Power Editor to traget your ads.

#7 Always Respond To Comments

This is so important. People leave comments and ask questions and if you’re not quick enough you will lose them or even worse they will give out about you online (reputation management is a post for another day) - Here Marie saw a message, responded in a timely manner and made a sale.

# 8 Call To Action If You Want Someone to ACT

Do you want someone to call, visit your site, like, comment or share? Ask! This is basic but really important and can make a difference between what you desire and what you get.

These are some of the tips that we shared with Marie and since our consultation and training her page has attracted new quality fans on a weekly basis that LIKE her business and make enquiries to buy.
